Configuration Details

SBE Improved sample bottles substitute a rugged titanium base & Delrin mount blocks for glued-PVC components used on standard Ocean Test Equipment (OTE) bottles. Base is securely attached -- not glued -- to bottle using stainless steel clamps. Clamps are electrically isolated from titanium base to prevent galvanic attack. SBE Improved sample bottles are available in 5-, 8-, 10, & 12-liter sizes. For other sizes (1.7-, 2.5-, 20-, & 30-liters), see Third Party sample bottles from Ocean Test Equipment.

Each SBE Improved bottle size is available in several types:

• Carousel mount -- Upper & lower bottle end caps are held in place by a length of latex tubing that runs inside bottle; when lanyard is released from pylon, latex tubing snaps bottle closed.

• Carousel mount, External stainless-steel spring -- External stainless-steel spring replaces internal latex tubing; when lanyard is released from pylon, spring snaps bottle closed.

• Carousel & Wire messenger mount -- Upper & lower bottle end caps are held in place by a length of latex tubing that runs inside bottle; when lanyard is released from pylon or messenger is sent down wire, latex tubing snaps bottle closed.

• Carousel mount, with Reversing Thermometer Assembly -- Upper & lower bottle end caps are held in place by a length of latex tubing that runs inside bottle; when lanyard is released from pylon, latex tubing snaps bottle closed. Thermometer rack, which can hold reversing thermometer, is attached to bottle; when lanyard is released from pylon, thermometer rack spins to reading position (reversing thermometer not included).

• Carousel mount, with Reversing Thermometer Assembly & External spring -- External stainless-steel spring replaces internal latex tubing; when lanyard is released from pylon, spring snaps bottle closed. Thermometer rack, which can hold reversing thermometer, is attached to bottle; when lanyard is released from pylon, thermometer rack spins to reading position (reversing thermometer not included).

• Carousel & Wire messenger mount, with Reversing Thermometer Assembly (5- & 8-liter bottles only) -- Upper & lower bottle end caps are held in place by a length of latex tubing that runs inside bottle; when lanyard is released from pylon or messenger is sent down wire, latex tubing snaps bottle closed. Thermometer rack, which can hold reversing thermometer, is attached to bottle; when lanyard is released from pylon, thermometer rack spins to reading position (reversing thermometer not included).
