SEASOFT-Win32: SeatermAF

SeatermAF©, a WIN 95/98/NT/2000/XP application, is part of our SEASOFT-Win32 software suite. SeatermAF is a terminal program for interfacing with Sea-Bird instruments that include Auto-Fire capability for operating a water sampler autonomously on non-conducting cable:

• SBE 17plus V2 SEARAM used with a SBE 32 Carousel Water Sampler and an SBE 9plus CTD
• Carousel Auto Fire Module (AFM) used with a SBE 32 Carousel Water Sampler and an SBE 19 (older product) or 19plus SEACAT Profiler CTD, SBE 25 SEALOGGER CTD, SBE 50 Digital Oceanographic Pressure Sensor, or with no CTD
• SBE 55 ECO Water Sampler (which has built-in auto fire capability) used with an SBE 19 (older product) or 19plus SEACAT Profiler CTD, SBE 25 SEALOGGER CTD, or with no CTD -- compatibility with SBE 55 ECO available in SeatermAF version 1.19 and later

SeatermAF can send commands to an instrument to provide status display, data acquisition setup, data retrieval, and diagnostic tests. SeatermAF includes the functions incorporated in SEASOFT-DOS' Term17 and TermAFM.

The instrument configuration (.cfg) files created by the DOS-based terminal programs cannot be used by SeatermAF. If implementing SeatermAF for an existing system that was set up with a DOS-based terminal program, record the instrument configuration settings from the DOS-based terminal program, and reenter the settings in SeatermAF’s Configure menu.

Data uploaded with SeatermAF can typically be processed with the post-processing modules in SEASOFT-Win32 (SBE Data Processing) or SEASOFT-DOS. Instruments introduced since 2001 (such as the SBE 19plus) are not supported in SEASOFT-DOS.

The SEASOFT-Win32 software suite also includes the following Windows programs:

• SEATERM  -- terminal program that interfaces with most instruments, providing setup, data retrieval, and diagnostic tests.

• Seaterm54 -- terminal program that interfaces with SBE 54 or PN 90588 Tsunameter.

• SEASAVE V7  -- data acquisition program that acquires, converts, and displays real-time or archived raw data.
  Note: As of March 2007, SEASAVE V7 replaces SEASAVE-Win32.

• SBE Data Processing -- data processing program that converts, edits, processes, and plots data.

• Plot39 -- plotting program for data uploaded from the SBE 39 or 39-IM.
